The Commands
/upskill
See exactly where you fall short of the jobs you want — and get a real, web-sourced plan to close the gap.
/upskill is your career coach. It looks at the distance between where you are and
where the jobs you want need you to be, then hands you a prioritised list of what to
learn and where to learn it — every resource pulled from a live web search, never
invented.
Two ways to run it
| You type | Mode | What it looks at |
|---|---|---|
/upskill | Aggregate | Every job in your tracker. Roles you fit least count most, so the plan points at what's actually holding you back. |
/upskill <job url> | Targeted | One specific posting. (Paste the text instead if the link won't load.) |
What a run looks like

Building your learning plan (searching for current resources)…
Saved → upskill/report-2026-06-17.mdThe heatmap prints first so you can see the shape of the gap before the detail.
What you walk away with
- A gap heatmap — every gap rated Critical / High / Medium / Low, tagged by kind (a missing tool, a domain you haven't worked in, a soft skill, or a credential).
- A learning plan — for each gap that matters, two or three real resources (with links and a one-line reason), a study direction tuned to what you already know so you don't re-learn the basics, and a time estimate.
- A study order — a numbered sequence that respects dependencies, front-loads quick wins, and saves broad domain knowledge for last, with a total time at the bottom.
- A saved report at
upskill/report-*.md. Run it again next month and the aggregate report opens with a delta: which gaps you've closed, and which are new.
How it stays honest
- No invented resources. Every course, doc, and book comes from an actual web search with the current year in the query. If nothing good exists for a gap, it says so.
- It won't pad an empty tracker. No applications logged yet? Instead of an empty
report, it nudges you to run
/searchand/applyfirst, or to point it at a single job with/upskill <url>. - Low-priority gaps show in the heatmap for completeness but don't get a plan entry unless you ask — the plan stays focused on what moves the needle.
Seeing it in the dashboard
Every report lands in upskill/report-*.md, and the dashboard's Upskill tab lists
them for you to re-read any time. You can also kick off a fresh run straight from the
dashboard Console — it runs this same /upskill command.
